Tourz

Overview

I am co-founder and sole designer of the startup Tourz. It has been an exciting project that has been ongoing since 2017. Since then we have pivoted a few times and undergone a full rebranding. That said, our mission has remained the same, to empower families to take time from the every day bustle and get into the wilderness to create experiences that last a lifetime. How we do that is simple, we have created a software platform that enables our customer with best in class 360° virtual tour experiences, that provide confidence for users to make reservations on their site.

My Role: Lead UX Designer

Customer Insights & Research

I have conducted competitive market analysis to see the

EXPERIENCE STRATEGY & VISION

After our personas were met I created user flows that would outline the content strategy and architecture of the application.

PLANNING & SCOPE DEFINITION

Working an agile process with Nike so that design would be finished by the time content was created to move directly into development.

Oversight & Coordination

I collaborated with stakeholders, a content strategist, developers, and brand ambassadors at nike to ensure we met all requirements through the entire project.

DESIGN EXECUTION & VALIDATION

I designed directly for the iOS ipad. Using Nike's well defined brand guidelines created wireframes, prototypes and design specs for the app.

LEADERSHIP

I owned the entire design process from UX strategy to Visual design while working to align and pivot when needed to meet content criteria.

Insights

Our insights phase included stakeholder interviews and working sessions with Nike to craft personas and user flows for the application. The three flows that were created spanned the full extent of the application. From a user reading straight through the playbook, someone who reads it in multiple sessions, to a super user that refers back to specific areas in the application while sitting with a potential partner.

Once that was complete I worked with a content strategist to lay out how we saw the application and built a site map that was used to help Nike create the content while we moved into wireframes and visual design.

UX Strategy

Once we had a foundation for what the content would be I drafted the information architecture for the application and moved into wireframes. This was actually a difficult feat as the content had not been created at this point but we needed to move forward as to meet Nikes quick paced deadline.

Wireframes

At this point of the project I was in great shape moving along the process. The only problem was we still did not have final content from the Nike team. That being said I was able to draft wireframes that would help the team write content to. This moved the project along and I was able to start visual design assets.

REBRANDING

Below you will see our first rendition of the product known as CampZimmer. This is a responsive web-app that allows users to browse public campgrounds and narrow their search via map, filers, and then use a 360º virtual tour to locate the exact campsite they wish to reserve.

The Solution

The final output was an iOS iPad application designed and built in three months. We were able to roll with the ups and downs of content curation by our client and pivot to meet there needs halfway through the project. The Nike team was very impressed with our agile approach, insights, and ability to stay under budget and time which lead way to another project a few months later.

The Impact

This was Streem’s biggest engagement at $5M. Success of this project was pivotal to

Nike was able to use the Playbook as a new training and resource method that saved time and money from previous training methods

After launch we were contacted for yet another Nike project on account of our ability to work quickly and efficiently on this application
